Senior Housing Benefits Officer
Location: Hybrid working - London Borough of Harrow, Harrow, Middlesex, HA3 8NT Contract Type: 6-9 month ongoing temporary contract Working Pattern: Hybrid (office attendance required once every 3 months) Pay Rate: £30.02 Umbrella
About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated Senior Housing Benefits Officer to join their Finance team. This role requires strong technical expertise and the ability to support and guide Housing Benefit operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibility for undertaking full assessments to entitlement/contribution for the more complex cases including the carrying out of home visits where necessary. This requires the post holder to evaluate and be responsible for any review to the entitlement /contribution for the more complex cases as highlighted below:
" Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit including more complex calculations in respect of self- employed, students etc
" Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit the Claims relating to Registered Social Landlords , Housing Tenants and Council Tax Benefit
" Fairer Charging/ Supporting People, Respite Care and Residential Care
" Other assessments such as concessionary fares using relevant Regulations
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
" Experienced at senior level - a seasoned Senior Housing Benefit Assessor with recent, hands on operational experience.
" Quality Assurance focused - substantial recent experience conducting QA checks and ensuring assessment accuracy.
" Workload management skilled - able to allocate and manage workloads across HB teams.
" Complaint handling experienced - capable of managing and resolving Housing Benefit-related complaints.
" Assessment support capable - confident supporting HB Officers with complex assessments and decision making.
" Knowledgeable in specialist areas - strong understanding of Temporary Accommodation, Supported Accommodation, and HB/CTS appeals.
